Aviation: Regulations
As you may already know, it is not always as easy, nor should it be as easy as buying a piece of equipment, loading charting software on it, and then taking it into your cockpit. Many variables may have to be addressed and considered, and if not carefully thought through, safety issues, inefficiencies and monetary penalties could result.
The introduction of the iPad has simplified certification of EFBs in the eyes of the FAA, due to its worldwide acceptance. FAA guidance has varied on the approval of EFBs since the beginning of EFB usage, depending on which office you speak to, so ACS works with regulatory experts, that can assist with the process of gaining approval, if such approval is required. We will offer options according to the specific scenario we are considering.
